Dawn Marie Bones

Dawn Marie Bones, age 56, of Altoona, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning surrounded by the love of her family. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her dedication to caring for others, and the deep love she shared with her children and grandchildren.

Dawn was born to Collette Lingenfelter, who survives her, and the late Larry Lingenfelter. She built her life around compassion and service, working for many years as an in-home travel nurse, where she touched countless lives through her kindness and skill. Her nurturing spirit also led her to become a foster mother, creating lifelong bonds and relationships that remained close to her heart.

She is survived by her loving husband, Timothy Bones. She was a devoted mother to Victoria Bones (Josh Saxe) and Matthew Bones (Jaaden Wenerick), and she carried always in her heart her son Timmy Bones, who preceded her in death. Dawn was a proud and adoring grandmother to Brody Bones, Bennett Saxe, Nicholas Saxe, Briella Bones, Weston Bones, and Lavaydah Bones, who were the light of her life and the center of her world.

Dawn is also remembered and cherished by her extended family, including her brothers- and sisters-in-law, sisters, and many close friends and loved ones, especially Tommy Brumbaugh, Gretchen Gunnett, and Jason Simcisko.

Her greatest passion was being a mother and grandmother. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and family, always showing unwavering love, warmth, and support. Her legacy of care, strength, and compassion will live on through all who knew her.

A viewing will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Leslie - Miller Funeral Home 810 Bedford Street Claysburg, Pa 16625. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at a later date. 

Dawn will be deeply missed and forever loved.
